Monday Mentions Welcomes Jill Piscitello
Chatting today with author Jill Piscitello about writing, books, and her lovely story, Homemakers' Christmas.
Welcome to the blog today, Jill. Let's get right to the questions because I know lots of people are looking forward to getting to know you.
When did you realize you wanted to
write?
As a little girl, I had countless stories
rolling around in my head and couldn’t get them on paper fast enough. In college, the idea of pursuing writing as a
career felt risky. Fast forward twenty
years to an empty nest and a little extra time to work on old and new drafts,
and the floodgates are open.
What's the best part of being an author?
Words!
Playing with words is one of my favorite hobbies.
The worst part of being an author?
Right now, I’m in the final stages of editing a novella, writing the first draft of the follow up novel to that novella, and putting the final touches on a cozy manuscript. Giving 110% to those projects can be a juggling act after tackling the responsibilities of my day job. But I wouldn’t have it any other way and am beyond thrilled to have these opportunities.
What is your writing process?
An idea sparks, characters take shape, and an outline is drafted.
Do you have any works in progress you'd care
to chat about?
My novella, Tinsel and Tea Cakes, is in the final stage of editing. This novella will be included in the 2022 Christmas Cookies Series published by The Wild Rose Press.
Homemakers' Christmas looks wonderfully interesting! Let's hear a bit about it...
Homemakers' Christmas blurb:
A recent error in judgement has deposited
Cricket Williams, her daughter, and a son spiking a high fever into a homeless
shelter. A touch of Christmas magic is sprinkled upon her family when an
eccentric volunteer invites them into her New England farmhouse. Blindsided with
the proposition of a contractual living arrangement, Cricket is seized with
renewed hope for her future.
Boris Glynn is in town visiting his grandmother but harbors a secret that will impact her life and the lives of his dearest friends. Complications arise when he is unable to restrain himself from pursuing his grandmother’s beautiful new neighbor.
As Cricket begins to succumb to Boris’s attention, her new world is shaken by a series of events that have the potential to destroy her plans for a fresh start.
